Ah, you found me.

Thanks for visiting my site. I’m an author, editor, and speaker. I worked for Christianity Today for many years and was the founding editor of UrbanFaith.com, an online magazine about religion and culture.
I’ve written a handful of books and a slew of articles, some of which I’ve linked to here. My latest project is an ebook on Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” called Remembering Birmingham. A lengthier tome titled Birmingham Revolution: Martin Luther King Jr.’s Epic Challenge to the Church (available in both print and ebook) releases this fall from InterVarsity Press. My best-known book is Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical’s Inside View of White Christianity.
As a writer and speaker, I hope to build bridges of understanding across the racial, cultural, and ideological divides in our society. So make yourself at home. Check out the various info and links, including my blog (which I’m determined to update more often). And if you’ve read any of my stuff and would like to connect, please see the contact link above.
